Estero Bay Alliance for Care (EBAC) is a local, ad-hoc volunteer organization started in 2011 by City of Morro Bay Mayor Jamie Irons and Councilman Noah Smuckler to incorporate different city agencies and community organizations with the intent to study and address social issues in the Estero Bay area. Chaired by a current Morro Bay City Council member, the meetings usually include but are not limited to representatives from the Fire Department, Police Department, Social Services, local churches, health care organizations, the Food Group, various other charity organizations, the Community Resource Connections office, legal services organizations, and any other interested persons.
The organization and its subcommitties is currently involved in a Food Group, which puts on a free weekly dinner at the Veteran's Hall every Monday night at 5 pm, Homeless Not Hopeless including homeless outreach, Community Resource Connections, lobbying CHC to expand health care in the area, the Creek Clean-up effort, establishing safe parking areas, providing warming shelters, transitioning a new police chief, improving police-community relations, and HomeShare, a low-cost housing program.
NEXT EBAC MEETING postponed until a later date to be announced because of coronavirus
