Cal Fresh California Wildfire Disaster Update

  • Timely Reporting Waiver through 12/10/18 for Butte, Ventura, and Los Angeles Counties - Households can request replacement of food lost to power outages and evacuations due to Camp and Woolsey fires.
  • Hot Foods Waiver through 12/17/18. Butte, Colusa, Glenn, Kern, Los Angeles, Orange, Plumas, Tehama, Santa Barbara, San Bernardino, San Luis Obispo, Sutter, Yuba, and Ventura counties allows hot food to be purchased at SNAP authorized retailers. ***Please check with the retailer to be sure they are ready and able to allow the purchase of hot foods by participants who have been impacted by the fires.

LOS OSOS   ON THE RISE

Los Osos is becoming a driving force in community action.

 

In addition to the very popular Food Bank on Wednesdays spearheaded by Jim Quesenberry of People Helping People, Jim's wife Linda Quesenberry is the director of the Los Osos Resource Center (805-592-2701), located at Sunnyside School Room 18, Tue-F 1-5PM.

 

The Los Osos Community Coalition presents a panel addressing important community concerns  at bi-monthly meetings at South Bay Community Center.

 

The Resource Center offers:

  • 3  bilingual Spanish speakers
  • Resource Lists, English and Spanish
  • Computer/Wifi access
  • Transitions Mental Health/Family advocate m-t-w 8:30 - 5pm
  • Alliance for Pharma Access/Rep tues.12noon-3pm
  • Department of Social Services 2nd and 4th Thursdays, 2-4pm
  • Seneca - Family Ties - 3rd Friday of Month- 9AM - 12
  • Eckhard Workforce Development 16-24yr olds Mondays, 9am-4pm

The Sheriff's  department is also involved in the community with the  CAT (Community Action Team), dedicated to intervention in crisis situations.

Congratulations!! to Los Osos Cares on being awarded $40,000.00 by the Dignity Health French Hospital Medical Center's 2019 Community Grants Program. The grant supports Community Resources for the Underserved in Los Osos for the period of January 1 through December 31, 2019

Community Action Committee, Morro Bay and Los Osos Resources Offices have initiated, with the Morro Bay Police Department, an outreach effort to establish a plan to implement safe parking areas in our communities. Also discussed was a plan for rapid medical response to those in crisis situations.

The next meeting will be (Date and time to be announced).

New Medical Clinic in Morro Bay... Dignity Health Pacific Coast Health Centers 685 Morro Ave.  Suite C, Mon- Fi 8AM - 5PM, closed 12 - 1 ;30 for lunch.

Eckerd Connects Workforce Development - Dan Durante willl be in the Morro Bay CRC office Thursday afternoons, 1 - 4PM. Offers services to 16 - 24 years old and will be doing outreach in local schools. eckerd.org

Bellavia and Morro Bay Coffee offers free coffee to homeless veterans every Wednesday and Thursday from 3-5PM, Morro bay Coffee, 948 Morro Bay Blvd.

This antique sextant was donated to the Community Resource Connections Office. We decided to donate it to the Morro Bay Maritime Museum to help them navigate to success.
